Shay Mitchell is a Canadian model and actress. She is best known for her part as Emily Fields in the Freeform series Pretty Little Liars. The actress attended acting lessons in Toronto after achieving great results in modeling and dance. Mitchell gained commercial roles as well as acting roles as a guest in TV shows. Her breakthrough came in the form of performed Emily Fields' role in Pretty Little Liars. The critics as well as her fans were impressed with her performance. The well-known actress gained a reputation through screenplays like DreamlandMother's Dayand The belonging of Hannah Grace. Her role in the thriller with a psychological theme "You" led to more recognition. Alongside performing, she also wrote. With Michaela Blaney, she co-wrote an adult book titled Bliss. Shay Mitchell was born on April 10, 1987 and grew up in Ontario, Canada to parents Mark Mitchell and Precious Garcia. She was the daughter of Filipino immigrants and her father hailed from Irish as well as Scottish ancestry. Mitchell is also the relative to Lea Salonga - a famous musical theatre actress and singer. Growing up, Mitchell attended Rockridge Secondary after which she transferred to West Vancouver Secondary School. She had already modeled around the world in her early teens. She travelled across the globe to Barcelona, Bangkok, and Hong Kong, ultimately returning home in Toronto as she continued her studies in acting.
